Question with 1 note
fives-lapel asked: Just gonna pop in really quickly and say that as both a Christian and a paleontology geek, The Creation Museum makes me squirm and want to head-desk the nearest....well, everything.
Many of us feel similarly, regardless of religion. I don’t know many who like The Creation Museum. (That said though, I’d love to go and check it out some day, though it would infuriate me to no end. Or amuse me. One or the other.)
Anonymous asked: Okay, so archaeologists have this thing about getting asked about dinosaurs. For the paleontologists out there, does that go both ways? Do you guys constantly have relatives asking you about Indiana Jones, digging up dead people, and the like? Does it drive you equally insane?
Sorry, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with asks on Tumblr, and I haven’t been on since about November. To answer your wonderful question, yes. It is absolutely infuriating, at least from my perspective. Cartoons don’t even get us right! Archaeologists get everything, and paleontologists get nothing. I hate it when they have archaeologists digging up dinosaurs, and it must bother you as well, else you wouldn’t have asked. Anybody else have other feelings or thoughts?
Geographers… You can’t beat them. Unfortunately :-/
There’s always the trusty rock hammer, but that might be considered clubbing.
To the person who asked me where I go to college about a week ago, I’m not ignoring the question, I just can’t seem to answer it. Tumblr won’t let me.
BGSU, by the way. I’m a Paleobiology major.

Sorry I couldn’t word it better.
Oh, hey, that reminds me, I’m not dead, I’m just really busy. I’m taking a bio, a chem, and a mineralogy lab, expect posts now and then, I’ll try my best to not let this die.

I never disliked any geologists before, but now….
Anyways, here are a few articles about geography at Harvard if anyone wants to read more about it: 1 | 2 | 3
